That Goodtime Band

“That Goodtime Band” was formed in 1991 by trumpeter Craig Volosing.  The objective was to form a band of the best, most versatile and experienced musicians available … to be, for its leader and the musicians, not a continual, grinding task but rather just plain good fun at every occasion.  There would be just one over-riding guideline:  When “That Goodtime Band” took the stage, the musicians would always be intent on providing a VERY  GOOD  TIME for both the audience and themselves.

This six-piece ensemble is one very danceable variety band.  They feature most every classic rock / pop party tune you might expect, plenty of swing-era standards, a respectable repertoire of country-western gems, “r&b” and any amount of jazz one might like, plus the special Latin dance rhythms and waltzes, polkas, etc…

Always fresh, always fun, “That Goodtime Band” is a six-piece band from a roster of eleven of the Northwest’s top singer-musicians.   They are: Craig Volosing (Trumpet, Flugelhorn, background vocals), Kim Eggers or Paul Plowman (Saxophones, flute and lead vocals ), Paul Valsvig or Doug Folkins (Bass and lead vocals), Mark Norton or Gabe Lapano (Keyboards and lead vocals), Nick Herman or Pat Barclay (Electric guitar, acoustic guitar and lead vocals), Rick Westrick or Jake Burton (Drums), and on certain by-request occasions, the band expands to include a female vocalist.

The names Volosing, Norton, Herman, Plowman, Folkins and Westrick are all known to audiences for their long-time association with Spokane Jazz Orchestra.  Rick Westrick is also a percussionist with Spokane Symphony.  Paul Valsvig’s  early career years were spent with the nationally-acclaimed “Runabouts”.  Kim Eggers started out as leader of the “Universal Joint” and went on to three legendary groups; the  Kingsmen, the Wailers and the Viceroys.  He still performs with the Wailers on special occasions.  Gabe Lapano spent nearly two decades with the world-renown “Cascades”.  Pat Barclay is virtually a household name in Northwest music circles.  Craig Volosing has played with and provided back up groups for many internationally acclaimed artists including Johnny Mathis, Manhattan Transfer, Bob Hope, George Burns, Mel Torme, Dionne Warwick, Rich Little, Bob Newhart, The Temptations (to name a very few!) plus several major touring Broadway musicals.

“That Goodtime Band” performs for weddings, corporate events, dance parties, public festivals and civic events all across the northwest.  They have been featured repeatedly at such highly visible music productions as Spokane’s Pig Out in the Park and the July 4 holiday Spokane American Music Festival.  They have also played repeatedly for such civic events as Christmas Tree Elegance, Wampum, Post Falls Days, Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture, The Champagne and Chocolate Gala and ‘La Fete’.  On top of it all, they have served as opening act for the legendary “Beach Boys”!
